Enjoy Your Time
Also, strive to help others enjoy theirs.
No seriously, that is our only real rule. We have some specific guidelines for how we handle applications and probation periods, but our only real rule is the all-encompassing statement above. We could think of no simpler way to really explain how we would like our members to act around their compadres.
Realistically we know that this needs a little bit of a definition. The basics of it are we don’t allow racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, bigotry, or any sort of racial/nationalistic superiority complexes. Everyone is different and comes from a background that is not your own. Take a minute to consider the fact that all the loves, emotions, beliefs, and social constructs that you may have are completely different from those that the people around you posses. Treat others with respect and you will earn respect in kind.
Seriously, we are all adults here. Act like a well-adjusted individual and you’ll be fine!
Before You Apply
There are a few basic truths you should know before you apply to this community. The first of which is that we are a primarily North American community. Most of our events and member activity times cater to this specifically. If you are from elsewhere in the world, but keep more NA friendly hours, that is totally fine! We fully accept people from any part of the world as long as you can meet our activity requirements.
Also, we are a 21+ community. If you are under 21 we will not allow you to join. This guideline includes children of current members.
To go along with this, friends and family are something that we welcome with some limitations. Your friend or family member must apply to the community the same way you did. They will go through the same scrutiny as any other person who applies.
Applications & Invitations
Applying to the guild is the first step in becoming a member. You can do so on our application page. Please fill out every section to the best of your ability. Don’t worry though, there is no correct answer to the last question. Just answer however you feel is appropriate!
After your application is submitted, please allow time for the leadership to take a look at it and decide if you would be a good fit. We have jobs and lives to take care of so it may take 24-48 hours, but we will try to get to it as quickly as we can. If we find that you seem like our type of person, you’ll receive an email with membership details as well as some additional community information.
If you get a turn down, remember this isn’t saying you’re a bad person. You shouldn’t feel bad and launch into an angry keyboard pounding frenzy. We are very selective with our members because we are basically trying to choose friends. If you don’t get in, it’s all good. There are a ton of other places out there!
Once you are actually invited into the community, you will be placed on a one-month probationary period. We’re not trying to be ass-hats with this, but this month is the time that we have to get to know you. You won’t be treated any differently than regular members, but during this month we reserve the right to remove you from the community with little to no warning.
You should just be you during this time period. Don’t seek to please us. We can spot a brown nose from quite a few parsecs away! Just chill and talk to us. Relax and be around. We’re just looking to get a feel for who you are and continuing to see if you’ll be a good fit.
Discord & Forum Activity
These two things go together like toast and Peanut Butter & Co.’s Smooth Criminal style peanut butter. This is the basis for all your interaction with your fellow community mates. It’s the place where you can come together and chat about whatever game, dungeon, piece of shiny gear, or general life stuff that you want.
We don’t hold our members to some oddly specific post count, nor do we force you to log a certain amount of Discord hours. What we do require though is that you make a concerted attempt at checking both out. If all you can do is pop in Discord for an hour 1-3 nights a week, that is okay! We just want you to come in and hang out with us when you can. If you cannot get into Discord on a somewhat regular basis then you might want to rethink joining a community that is based on building lasting friendships!
The forums are something you should try to check out at least once a week. We’ll be posting more and more information there about everything the community is involved in, so we feel it is important to be involved with that as well.
Access to In Game Benefits
Things will have to vary from game to game. That is just the nature of the beast that we’re setting up here. The general idea is that from the start, you will have access to in-game guild chat. If you need something crafted, you’re free to ask and see if anyone can help. Access to the community chest comes two weeks later. Basically this is just to protect us from possible issues.
As a note, though the recruit period lasts only 2 weeks before you have access to the community chest, your probationary period will still run for another 2 weeks after that.
If you need something from the chest before your recruit period is over, just ask. One of the leadership may be able to help!
All preplanned events are required to be posted on our event management system. This is just to make scheduling easier for everyone. If you have trouble creating an event or need some guidance, feel free to ask any of the leadership. We will gladly guide you down the proper road for getting your event posted.
To register for an event, you must go to the event’s page while logged in and comment on it with the appropriate information requested by the event planner. If you do not comment then you can assume that a spot will not be reserved for you and you’ll be left in the dust.
As a side note, social events such as guild meetings require no registration and are open to everyone.
