An Unlikely Meeting
We began in the Shire actually. Lord of the Rings Online happened to be where the initial founders that eventually became 404 would meet up. In that day we went by some other names and were mostly part of a Kinship called the Council of Eriador. It was a rather enjoyable time and allowed us to grow a friendship in a casual setting that would grow into the community we have today. Sure it was a rather bumpy road to get to where we are now, but no worse than a journey to Rivendell.
Finding a Home
As fun as LOTRO was, it was an aging game. Before long, it became time to move on. Though we lost some friends in the transition, a new community was formed. Mirth & Merriment on Jade Quarry in Guild Wars 2 would be the next iteration of our community. This game had a lot going for it on launch and we had quite the bustling group at its' prime. That being said, there was something missing. We just didn't seem to have the special connection we wanted with each of the members. We grew too large too quickly and it came crashing down when endgame wasn't what everyone expected.
Forming a Bond
Finally our story takes a happier turn with the arrival of Final Fantasy XIV. By this point, many of the founding members were ready to just find a guild to fall into, but after not being able to find a community that shared our values, it was time to create our own again. 404 Guild Not Found was created to be a place for folks to be able to relax in an atmosphere that felt like a real group of friends rather than just people you run a few pieces of content with.
Changing the Game
We moved forward, slowly picking up members and being much more strict in our recruitment requirements. We finally found a system that lets us get people in that really mesh well with the community. We have a very dedicated, yet small member base that now affords us opportunities. Things like the Festival of Frost, The Spring Fling, and other server-wide events are now just part of what we do. We've become something much better than we could have ever hoped for.
What we're up to now
We tend to keep ourselves pretty busy.
PAX Your Bags
We'll be making our way to Boston once again this year for PAX East 2016. Our trip last year turned out amazingly well and this one is shaping up even better!
We'll be running various Tabletop games via Tabletop simulator. There is seemingly no limit to the number of mods and games available for us to try out!
ARK After Dark
We've launched our own ARK server for anyone interested in raising baby dinosaurs. Who doesn't love animal husbandry?
